Recent Mechanical Engineering graduate from Milwaukee School of Engineering with internship experience and numerous and diverse, hands-on team-based engineering project experiences. Please contact me at gottfriedd@msoe.edu or 847-571-9658.For as long as I can remember playing with Legos as a child, I would gravitate towards the more technical parts, trying to make gear trains and mechanisms. As I got older, I found myself developing interests in things such as the automotive industry and in fluid power. Throughout my life I have also regularly visited the Illinois Railway Museum with my grandfather during the summers, where I developed an interest in steam locomotives. My interest in fluid power was developed on my high school robotics team, where I was in charge of pneumatics. All of this ultimately led me to looking at engineering, and as I learned about some of the different engineering schools and fields, When I began looking at engineering schools, I found that MSOE's Mechanical Engineering program was a great fit that has allowed my to get some hands-on experience.Senior Design Mechatronics Project (Team of 3): Design, program, and construct an electromechanicalright arm that can perform human-like motion and functions.Designed prototype, including many custom components (joints, forearm structure, hand base, etc.) in SOLIDWORKS.Designed Teensy 2.0++ based control system for lower arm.Developed code to test lower arm prototype functionality using Arduino IDE.Selected motors and a controller for upper arm.Constructed full arm prototype with working lower arm using machining and rapid prototyping.Designed numerous iterations, testing and analyzing data, and modifying design for optimal performance.Writing technical report, creating presentation poster, and providing progress presentations to faculty.I have been working to learn Python in my spare time.Through my team project experience, and co-curricular activities at MSOE, I have developed strong leadership, communication, teamwork, social, and technical skills.
