About Daniel Graves

Daniel B. Graves has been an investment banker in Financial Sponsors Coverage and TMT for more than 35 years. Over the course of his career, he has completed over $40 billion of transactions for more than 40 different clients. Dan has worked at bulge bracket firms, global banks and boutique merchant banks and has represented the interests of a broad range of clients ranging from financial sponsors to family-run companies to large-cap multi-national organizations. He founded the M&A, capital raising and financial advisory firm, Spinnaker Capital Advisors, L.L.C.(“SCA”), in 2004 and, from the period 2016-2025, led the North American Financial Sponsors Group at DC Advisory and its predecessor Signal Hill Capital. Before founding SCA, Mr. Graves was a Managing Director in Deutsche Bank’s Media Investment Banking Group from to 2004. During his five year tenure, Mr. Graves specialized in the cable, TV, radio and newspapers industries. He completed a wide variety of transactions for his clients, including equity and debt offerings and buy-side/sell-side M&A. Prior to Deutsche Bank in 1994, Mr. Graves was recruited by Merrill Lynch & Co.’s Media Group to relaunch the firm’s broadcasting industry practice. During his five years at the company as a Vice President and Director, Mr. Graves built the broadcasting industry practice into a top-tier competitor, finishing first in market share in equity, debt, and M&A transactions. Mr. Graves started his media investment banking career in 1989 as a summer associate at Salomon Brothers Inc. During his tenure as an Associate and Vice President at Salomon, he worked on a variety of assignments for cellular, cable, TV, radio and newspaper companies until he left the firm in 1994.
