Daniel Hahn is a Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design (MSAAD) candidate at Columbia University’s GSAPP, serving as the Elected Representative for MSAAD ‘25, President of the AIAS Columbia University Chapter, Chair of the Alumni & Development/Career Committee, GreenSAPP Representative, and OutputShop employee. Passionate about transforming architecture, Daniel leads initiatives that bridge academic excellence with practical impact, focusing on sustainability, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the professional growth of his peers. In his roles, he advocates for sustainable design and spearheads professional development events, cultivating a vibrant and engaged architectural community. Daniel’s experience spans leading firms and public-sector roles, including a thesis collaboration with Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), where he worked closely with partners and senior architects on forward-thinking design solutions. His background at H2M Architects + Engineers, Bentel and Bentel Architects/Planners, and the NYC Department of Design and Construction has broadened his understanding of sustainable design, community-driven solutions, and architectural technology. With each role, he continues to build a thoughtful approach to complex design challenges, embracing innovation and environmental responsibility as guiding principles. A graduate of New York Institute of Technology, Daniel earned his Bachelor of Architecture, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a 3.93 GPA. Recognized for his accomplishments, he received the American Institute of Architects Henry Adams Medal, the Dean's Award for Design Excellence, and other honors. His work reflects a deep commitment to expanding the possibilities of design, blending architecture with technology, sustainability, and community needs to create spaces that support both human and ecological well-being. Beyond architecture, Daniel is a dedicated powerlifter, channeling his drive and commitment into physical fitness, embodying the resilience he applies in his professional life. His dedication to excellence and growth mirrors his vision to redefine architecture’s role in shaping a sustainable, inclusive future. My vision on the role of Architecture in society is to bring innovative and creative solutions that prioritize the people’s needs and aspirations with structures whose aesthetic beauty and function inspire future structures and improve the quality of life. Architecture needs to incorporate sustainability as we work to make the world a better place for all.
