About Daniel Halliday

I am an experienced MPD Supervisor, an expert at controlling wellbore pressures using MPD choke manifolds and Rotating Control Devices, enabling oil and gas operators to safely drill narrow margin wells. I survey land, jack-up and semi-submersible drilling rigs to effectively plan and coordinate MPD rig ups, and I am highly experienced at installing, testing and commissioning onshore and offshore MPD packages, including RCD, choke manifolds and instrumentation & control systems. Furthermore, I deliver training for third party and rig personnel to ensure MPD best practices, techniques and flow paths are understood. I am competent at controlling bottom hole pressure (BHP) with surface back pressure, pump rates and mud weight to safely reach target depths. I also troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic and mechanical equipment issues to prevent NPT and successfully meet well objectives. During my career, I have worked with many top tier organisations such as Weatherford, Halliburton, Nexen, BP, OMV Petrom, Conoco Phillips and Shell. My achievements to date include: Nexen: Drilled 12 1/4" section of the Glengorm HPHT well using MPD techniques to TD in 1 run, resulting in biggest exploration find in 25 years in the North Sea, leading to 2 more appraisal wells. Shell: Successfully repaired RCD sensor and commenced bearing assembly installation, saving 12 hours of NPT. Weatherford: Selected as RCD Trainer to provide technical assistance with training operations, commended by Operations Manager and invited back for further training.
