About Daniel Hammer

I am an old school coder. For the most part I am self taught. I went to the School of Trial & Error. I learned Basic and Assembly on the Commodore 64 as a kid. I learned to assemble and repair computers in my early 20's - ask me about the time I nearly set my tablecloth on fire. In my late 20's and early 30's I learned HTML. From there I've picked up additional skills on my own including PHP, MySQL database design and more. I enjoy creating a project from the ground up. I also enjoy working with professionals and being a resource for other programmers. No matter how good you think you are at something, you cannot know absolutely everything. Never be afraid to ask questions. What makes a good programmer is knowing what questions to ask or what things to search for. I am not looking for a job. I am not looking to pad my resume. I am looking for a career. I am looking for a great place to work that I can call home. I have been out of the job market for a few years but I am ready to dive back in with both feet. Some of my skills include: PHP, MySQL, Javascript, CSS, HTML (various versions), C++, Linux server administration, MySQL server administration. I've done disaster recovery on a database using a hex editor, repaired a large project that was badly broken, integrated payment systems with websites, integrated an IVR with a website, conducted PCI compliance audits, worked with Magento, OpenCart 3, and WordPress. I've been experimenting with PHP-CPP to create custom PHP extensions.
