About Daniel Hassing

I am an attorney with the Legal Services Plan of the Aircraft Owners and Pilot's Association. In my role with AOPA, I counsel its members regarding FAA enforcement actions and other aviation related legal matters. Before AOPA, I was an attorney in private practice in Omaha, NE. In private practice, I represented Class I railroads in personal injury and other litigation. I also defended doctors, lawyers, and other professional on professional negligence claims. Finally, I also represented businesses and individuals in a wide variety business and tort litigation. In my practice, I tried cases to juries and judges and argued several appeals in state supreme courts. Before private practice, I served for two years as a judicial law clerk on the Nebraska Supreme Court. In that role, I assisted Justice William M. Connolly in the disposition of appeals. The Nebraska Supreme Court is the court of last resort in Nebraska and has jurisdiction over all appeals in all matters ranging from criminal cases to family law to tax protests to other civil appeals. I graduated law school from the University of Nebraska College of Law with High Distinction in 2010. Upon graduation, I was elected into the Order of the Coif, an honorary society for the top 10% of each graduating class. During law school, I served as the Online Editor of the Nebraska Law Review. During my tenure in that position, I published a number of articles on recent developments in Nebraska law. I have extensive experience in legal research and writing and have briefed matters in state and federal trial and appellate courts.
