About Daniel Hillyer

After a C4/5 spinal cord injury, I was told “no” more times than I can count! That experience drives my “never say never” approach to rehabilitation and accessibility. I co-founded RoboFit along side my wife to give people better access to evidence-based therapy and assistive technology so more of us can move, participate and live with independence post injury. At RoboFit we combine traditional physiotherapy and exercise physiology with advanced neuro-controlled exoskeleton therapy using Cyberdyne HAL (Hybrid Assistive Limb). HAL uses small surface sensors (ECG’s) to detect the body’s bio-electrical signals which is your intent to move, then assists the movement in real time. In other words, it moves with you, not for you, helping reinforce the brain-body connection during rehab. Essentially the lower limb exoskeleton device will assist the wearer to complete a step and work with them. We utilise HAL Lower Limb, Single-Joint and Lumbar systems alongside hands-on Physio/EP to deliver personalised programs. Who we support: people living with neurological or musculoskeletal conditions, including spinal cord injury, stroke, brain injury, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s. What we offer: gait retraining using a treadmill and body weight support and balance work, upper- and lower-limb programs, trunk and core stability, strength and conditioning, and education delivered in accessible clinics across Australia with the right equipment and an experienced trained team we can help you explore whats possible too.
