Retired Unit Chief for DEA’s Polygraph Support Unit. My duties as the unit chief included- Supervising 30 Special Agent - Polygraph Examiners worldwide who conduct over 2,250 pre-employment screening (LEPET), foreign screening, counterintelligence scope, and specific issue (criminal) exams every year- Supervising the Polygraph Unit’s quality control (QC) and internship programs- Managing all internal and external audits of DEA’s polygraph program, including the National Center for Credibility Assessment’s (NCCA) Quality Control Program (QAP) biennial inspections and Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of the Inspector General (OIG) audits- Providing advice and briefings as the subject-matter expert to DEA’s executive leadership regarding DEA’s use of polygraph examinations - Administering polygraph examinations and conducting first-level and second-level QC reviews of exams- Teaching leadership and polygraph program management as a guest instructor for NCCA’s Polygraph Program Manager’s course - Promulgating and updating DEA’s policies regarding the administration and use of polygraph examinations. Prior to becoming a Federally certified polygraph examiner with DEA, I spent eleven years conducting large-scale, international drug trafficking investigations. After six years as a DEA Polygraph examiner, I promoted and became DEA’s country attaché in Hanoi, Vietnam. I spent four years leading DEA’s mission in Vietnam and then returned to the Polygraph Support Unit, first as a staff coordinator and then as the unit chief. I retired on February 27, 2024 after administering over 750 exams and conducting several thousand QC reviews.
