Background

About Daniel Hribar

I am an Ohio State University alumnus holding a B.S. in Environmental and Natural Resources science with additional education as a graduate student at Central Michigan University. My background and experience in ecological surveying, management, and remediation has continued to develop beyond my education through roles in academic, governmental, and private organizations. During college, I was a recipient of the prestigious Ernest F. Hollings fellowship through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. My research through this appointment provided me with the opportunity to assess salt marsh carbon storage changes in relation to key environmental metrics in coastal Delaware. This work is now part of published research in the Journal of Coastal Conservation. My additional research experience centered on improved management of invasive European Frog-bit in Michigan through the creation and distribution of a statewide survey and compilation of a comprehensive occurrence record dataset. More recently, I have worked with multiple park districts to improve risk management and site-based restoration strategies, and I am currently employed as a restoration ecologist by MAD Scientist Associates in Columbus, where I inform and help oversee a suite of wetland mitigation and creation projects. Through my current role, I am continuing to build my professional experience within the field of natural resources conservation and contribute meaningfully to aquatic resource restoration projects across Ohio. Beyond my interests in ecological management, I possess desirable traits that include high-level writing and communication ability, attention to detail, and great enthusiasm for learning on the job. In the field, I am a task-oriented and altruistic team player, and in the office, I have a high degree of comfort working with data and developing proposals, reports, and management plans.
