About Daniel Iglesias

I began with a strong foundation in critical energy systems, graduating in Nuclear Power Engineering and moving into software for utilities in the 1990s. Over 25+ years I’ve specialized in solution architecture, integration, and modernization of mission-critical platforms across electricity, gas, water, and wastewater. At GE Vernova, Oracle Utilities, and Soluziona I’ve designed and delivered large-scale CIS, MDM, SCADA, and enterprise automation, working across Europe and beyond. My role has consistently been to bridge traditional infrastructure with modern software ecosystems—prioritizing reliability, interoperability, and resilience. Core strengths- Programming: Python, SQL, Groovy, PowerShell, VBScript, C - Integration & automation: API-driven platforms, Jenkins, Katalon, ALM/qTest - Modernization: migrating legacy estates to robust, scalable architectures Building on this foundation, I’ve expanded into AI/ML for utilities, applying analytics and forecasting to strengthen smart-grid resilience. Recent work includes- Energy load & generation forecasting (ENTSO-E, EIA, Zenodo)- Smart-meter anomaly detection for early warning of consumption irregularities - Predictive maintenance and failure classification to reduce downtime - “Energetical Balance” revival—reconciling energy flows in near real time, with AI-assisted forecasting and anomaly detection to prevent blackouts My work aligns with UN SDG 7 & 12, advancing reliable, efficient, and sustainable energy systems. From legacy CIS/MDM to AI-enabled digital twins, my focus is making grid infrastructure more reliable, intelligent, and future-ready. I’m exploring leadership roles where software architecture, systems integration, and applied AI/ML come together to build the next generation of data-driven utility systems.
