About Daniel Ivshin

I first encountered software engineering 12 years ago when playing video games, and I immediately fell in love. I spent a big chunk of my high school years studying everything about computers and even got free access to the electronics lab to build whatever contraptions I wanted. Game engine, LED Cube, RC car. if it intrigued me I made it. With my interest at the time in the cybersecurity field, I got accepted into a prestigeous course in the Israel Defense Forces and spent the next 5 years in the malware research field. First as a reverse engineer, and later as the senior lead developer in my office's development team. I also had a term as an instructor in the same prestigeous course I studied in. During my service, I realised I'm more interested in innovation and problem solving, and decided to switch my focus back from cybersecurity to software engineering. I later moved to Austria to spend some time with friends who live there, and found a job in MU Leoben as a software engineer assisting with phd research and innovation. Among the things I've done during my career- Programmed my own multiplayer game engine with OpenGL & C++- Made electronic contraptions like LED cube, RC car, and a sensor plate for drones- Studied and later taught at a prestigeous course in the IDF - Reverse Engineered countless malware samples and solved multiple cases of ransomware- Deployed several distributed systems using Docker, Kubernetes and Openshift- Received a technical excellency award for my developments in the military. I'm experienced in many computer science fields including backend development, designing distributed systems and databases, operating system internals, reverse engineering and even touched on large language models and CUDA programming. I'm very interested in solving difficult problems and learning new things, and I have a big passion for video games, anime and I'm also a bit of a science nerd.
