About Daniel J. Powell

I am an experienced litigator who develops comprehensive solutions to help clients successfully navigate the defense of products liability and premises claims across various active and high-risk jurisdictions throughout the country. I regularly collaborate with outside local counsel to implement effective and efficient litigation strategies from the time the case is filed through trial. In addition to my national coordinating counsel roles, I serve as local and regional counsel throughout the Midwest for a wide range of product manufacturer and contractor clients facing claims involving terminal illness and wrongful death. Tapping into my experience, I develop and execute innovative strategies that help clients meet and exceed their objectives. My clients trust me to fully protect their interests by assessing risks and evaluating claims, preparing and deposing fact and expert witnesses, responding to written discovery regarding sensitive corporate information and effectively arguing pre-trial motions. I frequently defend clients at mediations, settlement conferences and trial dockets in state and federal jurisdictions nationwide, and I am determined to achieve the best resolution for his clients. I participate in local and national conferences and seminars and contribute to the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education’s Products Liability Practice Handbook. I currently serve on the Recruitment Committee at MG+M, and I am committed to the long-term success of the firm’s clients by helping attract and retain diverse, talented and experienced professionals to fortify MG+M’s established culture of inclusivity and provide the highest quality legal service. Prior to joining MG+M, I was a shareholder based in Chicago at another national litigation defense firm. I was named a Rising Star by Illinois Super Lawyers in 2014, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021. I have also been recognized for my successful participation in the First Municipal District Pro Bono Program in the Circuit Court of Cook County.
