I am a dedicated professional with over a decade of experience in the criminal justice system, specializing in Indigenous initiatives and cultural competency training. A proud Mi’kmaq man from Ugpi'Ganjig (Eel River Bar First Nation), I have a deep sense of responsibility to my community and my passion for promoting Indigenous rights is what guides my career. As a Project Officer for the Indigenous Initiatives in the Atlantic Region, I oversee programming and supports for Indigenous offenders, fostering culturally appropriate rehabilitation and reintegration practices. As a National Trainer, I prepare new correctional officers from across Canada by delivering Indigenous cultural competency training — ensuring that future generations of officers approach their work with understanding, respect, and cultural awareness. My career reflects this commitment to addressing systemic challenges faced by Indigenous people within the justice system. My early work placements through NBCC laid the foundation for this, and my years spent as a Correctional Officer within the provincial system only strengthened my understanding of client care, case management, and cultural programming.
