About Daniel Kassing

I am an insurance law specialist with a particular focus on financial lines, product liability, professional indemnity as well as property matters. I have extensive experience in handling major domestic and cross-border claims and frequently act as monitoring and coverage counsel for insurers and as defence counsel for their insureds. I also advise clients in relation to negotiations outside traditional dispute resolution avenues. In addition to my claims practice, I regularly advise clients from the insurance industry on the structuring of insurance programmes, new product development as wells as distribution, supervisory and other legal issues. I act for clients based in Europe, the UK, the US and elsewhere. While working as a research assistant at a chair of the University of Bielefeld focussing on insurance law I earned my doctorate in liability insurance law. Over the years, I have been a secondee to claims departments of insurers and I therefore know the standards and requirements of this industry sector in detail. I am regularly recognized by legal industry publications and as lecturer at conferences. I hold the titles "Master of Insurance Law (LL.M.)" and "Attorney specialising in Insurance Law".
