About Daniel Konicek

Hello! My name is Daniel Konicek, and I am a metallurgical engineer. Over my 1+ year professional career as a failure analyst under the Caterpillar umbrella, I have developed a passion for metallurgy, learned an innumerable amount about the field, and most importantly, grown significantly on a personal level. I believe I have what it takes to stand out in this field by consistently and effectively applying my eye for detail, and ensuring I’ve done my part to fix the problem presented. Throughout my career, I have been involved in numerous projects that have required me to collaborate with a diverse group of professionals, including designers, machinists, process engineers, supplier representatives, and the list goes on. My ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely, as well as provide leadership where applicable has allowed me to work effectively with every professional team I’ve encountered. My expertise is primarily focused on ferrous materials, however I do have experience with aluminum alloys, copper alloys, and zinc alloys as well. When it comes to processing, much of my experience has been with wrought material, and I have done a significant amount of work with castings as well as forgings. In terms of personal background, I am a young man in his twenties who enjoys travelling, spending time with friends and family, and watching movies. I grew up in Champaign, Illinois with one incredible younger brother, and two equally incredible parents. I attended Champaign Centennial High School, and then proudly moved on to the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign where I obtained my bachelors in Materials Science & Engineering. During this time, I joined Triangle Fraternity for Engineers, Architects, and Scientists, and maintained involvement in this organization for the remaining time spent in college. Positions held include House Manager (elected), Technology Chairman (appointed), and others. Presently, my time spent away from work is most frequently utilized on various personal projects, ranging from artistry to functional devices.
