Background

About Daniel Leblanc

I moved to Ontario from Alberta in 2008 for my posting in the Canadian Armed Forces. My military career lasted from 2008 to 2015 and was very successful. I had proven myself to be an exceptional worker. During my time with the forces, I had earned an advance promotion and given responsibilities above my ranks. I was the communications representative for my troop, dealing with any issues we had with our communications equipment and reporting the state of our radios to my superiors. I was also given career courses early and allowed to take leadership roles whenever possible. In 2016 I enrolled in the Environmental Technician Program at the Waterfront Campus of Algonquin College in Pembroke. Each semester I have made Dean's list and have put many volunteer hours in with my program coordinator both in the lab and out in the field. For the summer of 2017, I had the opportunity to work for the Four Seasons Conservancy as a research assistant studying Kennedy Creek, which runs through Deep River Ontario. I secured the use of most of our sampling equipment and wrote out most of our sampling plans for the summer project. I also helped with all field measurements and put my skills with GIS software to use analyzing data and creating maps representing our findings. After graduating from college I became a Radiation Contamination Monitor for Canadian Nuclear Laboratories. I focused on radiation protection and decontamination. Currently, I am still employed with CNL and am working as an Environmental Technologist. My job has me working in Port Hope on the Port Hope Area Initiative providing environmental monitoring to ensure the program stays in compliance with environmental regulations during a large scale clean up of low level historic radioactive waste.
