About Daniel Lopez

I started my HSE experience during college working for a major automotive company. Although the automotive industry was interesting, I have thoroughly enjoyed working in the petrochemicals and oil and gas industry. In my current position, I am a Sr. Safety Engineer at the Lyondellbasell – Bayport Complex responsible for the Loss Prevention Program and Facility Security. As a seasoned fire protection and safety engineer, I am experienced with a variety of regulatory agencies including OSHA, NFPA, DHS, DOT, EPA, and TCEQ. Working in the petrochemical and chemical industry has presented many challenging opportunities which lead to my gain of knowledge and understanding. A fundamental principle that I have applied throughout my career comes from the following quote: “Rules without relationships lead to rebellion”. This principle is why it is important for me to continuously improve my relationship with all employees through communication, understanding, and a strong leadership stance.
