About Daniel Makie

Films can inspire people to achieve something magnificent, or disgust people enough that they stay away from a subject for years, but they can also introduce people to one another and can spur conversations that may never have happened without the film as the third party. It is this phenomenon, of pattern recognition, that interested me enough to decide to pursue an education as a filmmaker, and to choose everyday to work towards creating films. My education at Emerson College broadened my skill set with courses in the technical crafts of writing for film and television, directing actors for the camera, and cinematography; along with courses in genetic biology, ethics and justice, and speech communication. At Emerson College I wrote short scripts and feature length screenplays, shot and edited projects on film, and with digital cameras, and directed two short films that were showcased at screenings. My professional experiences have included writing and copyrighting a feature length screenplay, working on two film sets (Eve & Little Women) as a rigging electrician, producing videos and photographs for departments and clubs at MIT, producing videos for political candidates and government organizations, and collaborating with students, employees, and instructors at the intensive filmmaking workshop Maine Media Workshops + College to produce, direct, shoot, and edit visual content and narrative scenes.
