About Daniel Manahan

My passion is effective health services, in Queensland, Australia, and abroad in our developing country neighbours. I am keen to discuss ways to improve access and expand services that are of benefit, achievable and valued by our people. Whilst challenging, rural practice and life has opened doors to professional and social opportunities that only a life in the Australian bush could. These opportunities and contributions include * building clinical teams which function at a strong level for their resources;* engaging and leading the evolution of medical education and training in rural areas through # rural medical student training # 12 month LongLook student places # rural internships # rural generalist training * spearheading the development of rural generalist pathways in Queensland * leadership of the first decade's operation of the Queensland Rural Generalist Pathway * contribution to ACRRM curriculum writing * leading regional credentialing committees in Queensland since their inception in the mid 90s * advocacy of rural procedural practice through committees and reviews * support and consultancy in birthing services including all recent Queensland rebirthing sites * shared resources in disaster responses during Cyclone Yasi and Debbie, and * capacity building in developing countries through clinical training in East Timor, Tonga and other Pacific nations.
