About Daniel Marks

As a Black queer campaign strategist, I hold expertise in creating solutions to authentically reach, mobilize, and organize our nation’s most marginalized communities as they evolve and shift. In my 10 years of racial justice advocacy experience, I’ve used digital tools and platforms to amplify the voices and stories of marginalized communities, mobilize supporters, and influence policy change. At my core, I am a connector, advisor, and doer. I love working with directors, legislators, volunteers, and consultants alike to design innovative projects that produce impactful advocacy results. Having spent time in multiple nonprofit organizations, I hold expertise in understanding matrixed work environments and working alongside departments to project manage cross-divisional integrated solutions for campaigns. Currently, I serve as a Campaign Strategist at the American Civil Liberties Union, where I lead robust state legislative campaigns aiming to end radicalized surveillance and advance political power. More specifically, I lead a 10-state campaign supporting the Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) and the Stop Discrimination by Algorithms Act (SDAA) in DC. I work with state-level ACLU affiliates to increase their expertise in connecting consumer privacy to systemic equality issues by designing evidence-based communications materials, producing demographic testimony templates for hearings, creating SMS/email action templates, and writing talking points for communications and lobbying practices.
