About Daniel Mason

I am currently a senior tracking/matchmove artist at Image Engine with eleven years of industry experience living in Vancouver BC as a permanent resident. In my time as a matchmover, I have worked for Framestore (Film) and Milk VFX on short term contracts, as well as working longer stints at Method Studios and Gener8 Digital Media Services. I have worked in VFX tracking, layout and rotomation for feature films and TV as well as tracking and layout for stereo conversion. I have also worked as a lead on multiple shows at both method and gener8 and spent eleven weeks in India training and assisting in the supervision of a new tracking team for gener8 I was trained as a generalist and studied 3D CGI (modelling and animation) at Bournemouth University, which covered the uses of CGI for film, tv, games and advertising. Prior to this, I worked for three years as an architectural technician. I completed my BSc (Hons) Degree in 2012 with a first. My aims are varied and while I enjoy tracking, I am open to work in other areas such as modelling and animation. I have become adept with MEL script, having designed multiple tools both simple and complex for use in tracking. I am currently branching into C# and unity in my own time. I aspire towards developing a career that would allow me to work in as many areas of 3D as possible, whether this be in film, games, tv, or any other media.
