About Daniel Mazur

Achieved MS. in Physics of surfaces and interfaces in 2002 at Charles University in Prague (CZ) and PhD. in Physics in 2006 at Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, IL (U.S.A.). Worked as a research associate, with some teaching duties, at the Université de Genève (SWI) from 8/2007 till 12/2010 and at the Charles University in Prague (CZ) from 1/2011 till 2/2017. The work focus was principally the setting up new laboratories and research devices, and then electronics of surface structures on ordered Silicon and physico-chemical properties of ceria, tungsten-oxide and other oxides supporting nanoparticles of metal catalysts for water-gas shift reaction (hydrogen fuel cells). While at the Charles University, got involved as a project manager for research, scientific infrastructure and innovation projects, which included a 2-year appointment at CERIC-ERIC, a then-new EU-level research infrastructure, and another 2-year work at the Charles university Centre for Knowledge and technology transfer until 12/2018. Was elected a local assembly member in late 2018 and was then Mayor of Prague 5 district for a year. Then became a project manager in 2020 for the Prague innovation institute. In late 2022, got elected an assembly member for the city of Prague and in 2/2023 became the city councilor for IT, Smart City, Science, Research and Innovations.
