Professor Daniel McCluskey | Dean | Research Leader | STEM Strategist | President, UK & Ireland Aerosol Society I am Dean of the School of Physics, Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Hertfordshire, where I lead strategic development across a vibrant and diverse STEM portfolio of over 9,500 students, 450 staff, and 200 doctoral researchers. I bring nearly two decades of experience in defence and security research and have secured over £20M in funding across multidisciplinary engineering domains. As a Chartered Engineer and Professor of Aerosol Biodetection Technologies, my work bridges academia, industry, and government, driving innovation in biodetection, autonomous systems, and environmental monitoring. I lead and collaborate on national and international research initiatives, including the £13.5M Future Biodetection Technologies Hub and the UK Centre for Doctoral Training in Aerosol Science. I have spearheaded institutional transformation through our design and development of Spectra, a new £100M STEM facility, and led one of the UK’s largest expansions in Engineering and Computer Science higher education, achieving a 250% growth since 2020.
