About Daniel McKay

I was lucky enough to be able to combine my skill sets (Sourcing) with my hobby (3D printing), and even luckier it turned into one the the most successful 3D printing e-commerce stores in the world. Do what you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life. Prior to my current position: Analysis is a part of everything I do in life. Whether playing golf, developing an evaluation, solving complex problems, or deciding where to travel, it is always present. The perfect swing requires consistency and form, evaluations aim to contribute to better outcomes, and traveling is always better with contingency plans based on calculated risk. As a data scientist and strategic sourcing professional I seek to answer questions no one has dared (or sometimes cared) to ask to support strategic acquisitions. I drive change and continual improvement when for most there is nothing wrong with the status-quo. I'm a strategic sourcing manager at the Oregon Lottery, leveraging a diverse team of stakeholders I direct acquisition strategies to enable Lottery's modernization efforts and realize their strategic vision. Prior to this, I spent time designing a supply chain management program at the Office of the State CIO, developing new procedures to deliver better quality services at lower prices, eliminate wastes, and fill gaps left by traditional sourcing processes. Before my role as a strategic sourcing professional I worked for both Multnomah County and the State of Oregon, improving data architecture and reporting capabilities, introducing revolutionary and cutting edge analytical concepts to government procurement and human services. I graduated from the University of San Francisco with a master's degree in international and development economics. During my tenure and research with the university, I received honors for my thesis work on social capital, crime, and entrepreneurship. This was published in October 2013 in a peer reviewed journal. I have bachelors degrees in political science and economics. I'm a forever learner, and beyond the degrees listed, hold multiple certifications covering performance management, project management, data visualization, and procurement.
