About Daniel McKenna

I became interested in pursuing a J.D. after a unique experience as a pro se litigant. I sued a colleague in the music business for breach of contract after several failed attempts at negotiation. My opponent hired a lawyer but I made it past a motion and negotiated a settlement. I found it to be a valuable learning experience and an inspiration. I'm primarily interested in intellectual property, entertainment, and business law. I am pursing a concentration in intellectual property and have received doctrinal instruction in copyright, trademark, and patent law. My experience in the Texas A&M Trademark and Copyright clinic has been extremely valuable and is preparing me to do transactional work, but I'm not afraid of litigation! I also have a special interest in copyright law pertaining to musical compositions. I have an extensive understanding of music theory and a keen mind for breaking down a composition into its elements as well as highly developed aural skills for doing such analysis on the fly.
