About Daniel Mieritz

Achievement is what matters. As a PhD materials scientist, I have made contributions to solar energy and sustainability technologies. By designing new synthetic methods, I discovered new nanoporous materials including Zr0.2Ti0.8O2 and H1-xTi2(PO4)3-x(SO4)x. The former shows promise for solar cells and water splitting, and the latter has demonstrated good cyclability as a Li- and Na- ion battery materials and high efficiency as a catalyst for non-oxidative dehydrogenation of methanol and ethanol. I also fabricated thick, meso-macroporous, transparent and conducting coatings of antimony-doped tin oxide that were successfully used to harvest substantial photocurrent from R. Sphaeroides reaction center. I am very effective at planning and carrying out systematic experiments, and at being a team leader to produce results in an efficient manner. Working in diverse teams to solve problems is remarkably rewarding, as we ensure the highest quality work by holding our individual high standards. Effective communication is essential for success, and involves both friendliness and using numbers to establish confidence. It is important to remain positive, creative and energetic! I am excited to invest my time and skills in as a chemist at Hach. I look forward to learning more about problems at the cutting edge of technology, and how I can contribute to solving them.
