About Daniel Missailidis
My work tackles complex problems in human disease. I research the cellular causes of Parkinson’s Disease, Long COVID, and ME/CFS. I’m an expert in diagnostic biomarker discovery, mitochondria, energy metabolism and cell stress signalling pathways. 🪫 My passion drives my medical research, particularly for debilitating diseases without treatments or diagnostic tests. I currently pursue this as a molecular cell biologist working at La Trobe University. The most exciting part of my current research is validating prospective blood biomarkers that I’ve discovered for multiple chronic illnesses.🩸 I am highly independent which has driven me to initiate and lead successful grants, projects and collaborations early in my career. I’m passionate about science communication, disability and gender equity by improved health outcomes and stakeholder engagement in research. 🤝 Whether it’s meeting with affected people in their homes or talking about issues live on air, engaging the community in the research being undertaken ultimately for their sake is the most rewarding part of my work.
