Healthy Asian Youth (HAY) is an afterschool and summer program that provides tutoring, mentoring, leadership training, and other educational services to low-income students (grades K-12) in the Columbus area. HAY offers reading, mathematics, science, and cultural enrichment classes for grades K-6, and violence prevention programs, college and career workshops, and OGT/SAT/ACT preparatory classes for grades 7-12. HAY also engages students in recreational activities, including sports, arts and crafts, and field trips. HAY's primary focus area is the West Side (Hilltop, Franklinton), known to have one of the highest unemployment and crime rates in the city. HAY aims for all its participants to progress from grade to grade toward graduation, live healthy lifestyles, and refrain from delinquent activities. HAY currently serves over 130 students annually, and operates out of two locations.
