Trust in visual media is becoming one of the defining challenges of the AI era.Advances in generative AI, synthetic media and deepfakes are rapidly transforming the information landscape, making it increasingly difficult to determine whether visual content is authentic. As artificial intelligence becomes capable of generating highly realistic images and video, traditional verification methods are increasingly insufficient.I am the founder and inventor of Lightmark™, a deep-tech initiative developing capture-layer authenticity infrastructure for visual media.Lightmark introduces a new approach to content authentication by embedding verifiable optical fingerprints directly at the moment of capture, using controlled light modulation, optics and photonic signaling. Instead of relying solely on post-factum forensic analysis, the technology allows visual media to carry an authenticity signal from its origin, enabling verification of content integrity.The work sits at the intersection of computer vision, optics, photonics, media security and digital provenance systems, addressing emerging challenges created by artificial intelligence and synthetic media ecosystems.Lightmark is currently being developed as a highly research-and-development intensive program within GIF Solutions LTD, exploring applications across several strategic domains:• Media integrity and broadcast ecosystems• Content authentication for digital platforms• Video authentication in drone and defense environments• Infrastructure supporting AI governance and synthetic media verificationThe long-term vision is to help establish a global standard for capture-layer authentication of visual media, contributing to a trusted digital information environment.I am currently exploring collaborations with partners across deep-tech, photonics ecosystems, media platforms and defense technology communities to advance the development and deployment of this technology.Lightmark™ — capture-layer authenticity infrastructure for visual media.Patent pending.
