About Daniel Oconnor

I am a graduate of Games Design with a BA at 2:1 level from University of the Arts, London. I am passionate about every aspect of games and their design and love being blown away by an innovative or interesting feature in a game. I am the former host and was a frequent collaborator & writing partner of a games news web show, Space Unicorn. The content focused on games industry news & events, and covered the monthly London Unity User Group meetups. I started my career at Goodgame Studios as a Customer Service agent, covering all games with a specific expertise in our online farming game - Big Farm. I regularly exceeded my targets while also working on various projects to improve communication and efficiency. I held the role of payment expert, defining procedures and training agents in the hundreds of payment methods used. I was responsible for the design of tools used by the department to aid in localisation and data analysis, using the Google Sheets API and Google Query language and with a focus on usability and innovative features. In my former role as a Community Manager for Big Farm I was responsible, along with my partner, for thousands of worldwide players and 15 sub-forums in various languages. I directed a team of between 20-30 moderators in communication about the game, updates and technical help. I was lead content creator, producing written content, feature videos, social media copy and visual content, also working closely with the design, production and development teams to bring content to life in an enjoyable and exciting way. In my current role at Ubisoft I am responsible for the corporate social presence and careers pages, as well as reporting and statistics on social media. I am a confident and capable writer and content producer with knowledge of a wide range of industry software. I also do puns.
