About Daniel Okuonghae

I am a Mathematical Modeller. I make use of mathematical techniques and approaches to provide insights into the workings of real life, dynamical systems. I have carried out researches into the population dynamics of infectious diseases such as TB, HIV, Syphilis, Cholera, Polio and, from the results of the studies, gleaned out robust public health control measures that will result in a reduction in the incidence of the disease under study. I have also undertaken the mathematical modelling of problems from the physical sciences, engineering and social sciences. I also make use of Statistical Models (e.g, Generalized Linear Models) to better understand the nature of real life problems using only data (Empirical Modelling). I am also involved in organising seminars and workshops (real-life and virtual) on the use of computational softwares such as MATLAB. I have successfully organised over 10 workshops, within the last three years on subject matters such as Data Analysis and Visualization with MATLAB, ODE Model fitting with MATLAB, Empirical Modelling, Dynamical Systems Theory, Industrial Modelling, Using LaTex for Mathematical Typesetting, Mathematical Modelling with Applications, Optimal Control Analysis, etc. Some of the above workshops were organised in partnership with some academic societies in Nigeria and the Mathematical Computational and Statistical Biology (MCSB) Group, Department of Mathematics, University of Benin, Benin City, which I lead.
