About Daniel Otano

Daniel Otano is a warehouse worker overnight and an undergrad by the day (May 25’), passionate about applying exercise science and his experience in strength and conditioning to beginners, athletic and clinical populations. With a background in Kyoukushin Karate, Muay Thai, and Boxing, he understands the demands of high-intensity performance, the importance of mobility training and evidence-based training methods for both muscular strength gains and injury prevention strategies. With 6+ years in customer service from fencing construction, managing Kyokushin karate gyms, busy late-night food drive thru’s, to interning at Endeavors Health Fitness Center. He hopes to grow and transition from warehouse worker, to physical aide to finalizing his own career as a physical therapist while opening affordable boxing gyms throughout Chicago, teaching beginners, a way to teach the youth discipline and confidence, and to providing jobs to trainers and boxers, steady growing knowledge of business and promotions. He applies skills learned from past experiences, teachers, friends, parents, family and fellows at UIC and North Park University behind a genuine smile to deliver a welcoming, productive and positive atmosphere. Including Spanish skills for interpretation, his roles in customer satisfaction, shift leading, group instruction, and fitness training for cardiac rehabilitated patients is what he hopes to be the beginning of his new role as a professional. He’s eagered to connect with like-minded professionals committed to innovation in healthcare, scientific research, and community well-being.
