Background
About Daniel P.
I'm an HR professional with a passion for helping to build people-centric cultures that allow team members to bring their full, authentic selves to their work. Creative problem solving, taking initiative, and being an empathetic communicator are three traits I pride myself on. In my 4.5 years at Bandalier, I was able to grow from a part-time entry level sales rep into a Senior Director of People Operations. In that role I got the opportunity to manage six team members (three managers, three entry level) across three departments (recruiting, L&D, and HR). A few of my accomplishments on the People Ops side at Bandalier were: 1. Helping to build and scale our recruiting infrastructure during periods of rapid growth that allowed us to more than triple the size of our team from ~25 to ~80 talented individuals spread across the country. Building out our L&D department from scratch which within a year led to a 25% increase in retention, a 31% increase in training satisfaction scores, an 18% decrease in time to ramp, and a 10x increase in clients hiring team members directly. Fostering a proactive, people first approach to HR that leveraged data to inform how we could best serve our team. Some examples of initiatives we designed and implemented to improve key HR metrics: creating a new hire mentor program, launching a career services function, implementing an employee recognition software (AwardCo), and overhauling our benefits package. Throughout my time at Bandalier, I learned a ton about business, myself, and life. Three lessons that stand out in particular are: 1. Progress over perfection. Version one isn’t version done. Trust in you and your teams ability to improve something over time. Continuous small overhauls. Strengths and weaknesses are really just two sides of the same coin. When a trait, say creative problem solving, gets pulled too far in either direction, it becomes a weakness. However, if you’re able to hone that trait, then it can become a massive strength. Approach every one on one, conversation, meeting with the intent to listen to understand and learn instead of to judge, criticize or persuade. This shift in mindset helped me develop stronger, healthier relationships with the team I managed, other department heads, my manager and our team as a whole. As I look towards my next opportunity, I'm open to remote opportunities in HRBP, People Ops, L&D, and Recruiting but what I’m most focused on is finding a mission, a team and a role that aligns with my passions, my values, and the role work plays in my life.
