About Daniel Pap

As the secretary of the drafting group of the Steering Committee for Human Rights on human rights and artificial intelligence (CDDH-IA) at the Council of Europe, I contribute to the development and promotion of legal standards and best practices in this emerging field. I work with experts from various countries and backgrounds to draft reports, opinions, and recommendations on how to protect and enhance human rights in the context of artificial intelligence. Previously, I have served as the secretary of the drafting group on environment and human rights (CDDH-ENV) tasked with the elaboration of a report on the need for and feasibility of a new instrument on human rights and the environment. I have a strong background in international dispute resolution, with seven years of experience as a case lawyer at the European Court of Human Rights and associate at various international law firms. I have handled complex and sensitive cases involving right to property and fair trial issues, and I have developed skills in legal research, analysis, and advocacy. I hold an LLM in Comparative Dispute Resolution from Queen Mary University of London, where I graduated with distinction. I also teach the Investment Law course at European Humanities University. I have been recognized as the best non-native oralist of the 2015 Philip C. Jessup Moot Court competition and the coach of the 2019 Philip C. Jessup World Champion Moot Court Team.
