Background
About Daniel Pattern
I started with the ambulance service in September 2014 as a student paramedic on an apprentice scheme. I qualified as a technician with the east of England ambulance service after 2 years and began on a degree with anglia ruskin university, alongside working full time. I graduated as a paramedic and undertook a 2 year consolidation period, before being recognised as a senior paramedic. Upon qualifying as a senior paramedic I joined the ambulance service's mentor support and training team. I was able to provide assistance to all members of staff at all grades, around education, portfolios, equipment, vehicles, process', vulnerability concerns and staff wellbeing. This position enabled me to sign off technicians within the ambulance service, deeming them safe to work at this level. I really enjoyed coaching staff and was lucky enough to obtain and practice educator qualification. This qualification enabled me to offer assistance to the ambulance service's education and training department, where I was able to train and assess new students. Being a senior and trusted member of staff I was also relied upon when there was no duty management cover in place. I was responsible for providing wellbeing support, operational support, health and safety concerns and providing overwatch by scene managing at complex and major incidents, providing a means of communication between multidisciplinary services and our own senior management teams. From this role I was keen to progress and develop my management skills, and was fortunate enough to join Cambridgeshire County councils public health directorate as a specialist team lead. I am responsible for managing a team of 30 specialists, and managing operational process' of infectious outbreak management. I am responsible for providing live time data to senior leadership, and I am able to delegate and prioritise workload to team members to ensure public safety and help contain outbreaks of covid-19. I am now a member of the hazardous area response team (HART) as a paramedic. The team provides emergency pre hospital care in challenging and high risk environments. I am pro-active, always willing to learn and develop myself and interested in any exciting opportunities.
