In the Navy I commenced my professional skills as Marine Engineer in the Uruguayan Navy and became as officer from the Uruguayan Navy School in 1973. For almost 18 years as an engineer officer, I have enjoyed all the professional positions assigned to me by the Navy, including four positions as Chief Engineer onboard of different types of vessels and also managing the construction of a ship in the Navy shipyard, becoming Engineer Commander at the moment of my retire in 1991- First steps as loss adjuster My first contact with insurance market was at the end of the 80s when, I had the opportunity to work part time as consultant and loss adjuster at a former English insurance company established in Uruguay since the 19th century, the LIVERPOOL LONDON & GLOBE- Titled as marine surveyor At the beginning of the 90s, I had the opportunity to join an already prestigious local company of naval experts, MARINE SURVEYORS GROUP, founded in 1949, as an assistant first and later as a partner and senior surveyor to date. As marine surveyors I performed loss adjustments to Hull & Machinery Underwriters, P&I Clubs, and local and international insurance companies. These activities were carried also for SALVAGE ASSOCIATION, INTERNATIONAL CARGO GEAR BUREAU. As marine surveyor in: IACS’s Classification Societies: RINA, NKK, LLOYDS REGISTER OF SHIPPING, BUREAU VERITAS. Maritime Authorities: ISLAS MARSHAL, BAHAMAS, PANAMA, BARBADOS, MALTA MARITIME AUTHORITY, BARBADOS REGISTER OF SHIPS- Titled as loss adjuster Loss Adjuster working for Insurance Companies: • SEGUROS SURA S.
