About Daniel Reck

Daniel is passionate about making urban transport more efficient, sustainable and equitable. He has 13 years of experience in the transport sector in diverse roles in research, planning and consulting.In his current role at TPG (2nd largest urban public transport operator in CH), Daniel leads a team of transport engineers and data scientists on measuring, modelling and integrating multimodal urban mobility services through big data and quantitative methods. He successfully acquired and directs several research projects with external funding amounting to CHF 3.5M+(e.g, Horizon Europe, Swiss Federal Institutions).Daniel holds a Ph.D. from ETH Zürich, where he studied travel behavior with emerging transport modes and their integration with public transport. His research has been covered in international media outlets (e.g, The Guardian, National Geographic, SRF/RTS, NZZ, Tribune de Genève, WIRED, The Globe and Mail, Die Zeit) and he is recipient of the OECD International Transport Forum’s Researcher of the Year Award.Daniel regularly speaks at transport conferences such as the UITP summit, the ITF summit and the TRB annual meeting. He is member of the UITP combined mobility committee.
