About Daniel Rubin

I’ve spent my life in shoes. I am a shoe dog. From my family’s factory floor in London’s East End to building a global fashion brand, the footwear industry has been in my blood for four generations. In 1992, I founded Dune London, now a group with over 200 stores and concessions worldwide. What started as a single store on the King’s Road, London, has grown into a brand recognised for quality, creativity and craftsmanship. Before Dune, I qualified as a Chartered Accountant, worked in banking and corporate finance and owned shoe manufacturing and importing businesses that supplied the UK’s biggest retailers. Every step taught me something new about resilience, leadership and reinvention. Over five decades, I’ve seen the industry transform. Production has moved to the Far East, trainers have become the footwear of choice and the digital revolution has changed everything. Through it all, my focus has stayed the same: focus on the customer with great product, great people and great service. Today, as Founder and Chairman of The Dune Group and author of Sole Survivor, I share the lessons, mistakes and insights from a lifetime in business.
