About Daniel Ryan

Daniel finished his 33 ½ years with Boeing as an Information/Data Computing Architect within as part of the Enterprise Architecture group. He was part of a small team responsible for creating a capability to capture the enterprise sematic understanding of Boeing’s business data. He was involved in facilitating and leading business subject matter experts in understanding, defining and organizing the critical and shared business data (Supplier, Customer, Product, and Program information disciplines). In addition he provided key design requirements to establish and facilitate the ability to manage and govern the critical and shared business data as an information asset for the enterprise. Before this Daniel spent 4+ years supporting a Master Data Management initiative being conducted by Boeing’s IT Architecture group. His main responsibility was to capturing Boeing’s master data using IBM’s Master Data Management tool suite, mainly developing the physical and logical data models. Daniel has a Management Information Systems and General Accounting degree from Eastern Washington University. He began his career with Boeing as a Purchasing (Buyer) agent. He negotiated purchasing contacts mainly for 737 Floor panels and wing-to-body fairings. He then transitioned to focus on systems analysis for the then Material Division, and helped implement the PR/PRC system as well as worked on a plan to electronically transfer engineering data to contracted suppliers. Daniel then transferred to Information Technology in support of a major Engineering and Manufacturing system and business redesign program and was eventually a first line manager for the development of data conversion code covering all aspects of manufacturing and engineering data. Daniel also spent 10 years as a lead analyst in the creation of Boeing’s Business Intelligence Competency center. His main responsibility was to lead the metadata modeling group within the Business Intelligence Competency Center (BICC) to develop metadata modeling standards and best practices and well as the continuing development of metadata modeling skills. Daniel is highly focused on communicating the need for data management as a critical component to successfully incorporate any new computing technology into a business enterprise. Hobbies include being a hockey sports fan, summer camping, facilitating small groups in my local church and, following my family and extended family's exploits through life.
