Daniel Saroff is Group Vice President of Consulting and Research at IDC, where he also leads the CIO Executive Council and Pathways programs. He works directly with boards, business leaders, and IT executives to help them align technology with strategy, drive measurable outcomes, and make smarter investment decisions. His teams deliver hands-on consulting and benchmarking support, grounded in IDC’s unmatched global research and data. Daniel also heads IDC’s CIO and End-User Research Practice, delivering forward-looking insights into how technology can drive innovation, transformation, and business impact. He has personally published over 60 research reports, blogs, and articles. He also leads three key programs: CIO Executive Council, a peer community advancing the practice of IT leadership Pathways, IDC’s executive development program for the next generation of tech leaders. European Executive Advisor Program, where dedicated IDC experts partner directly with CIOs to deliver tailored insights, strategic guidance, and personalized support aligned to each organization's unique goals. Before IDC, Daniel served as CIO of a major Massachusetts state agency, where he led enterprise-wide modernization, technology innovation and standardization, and cyber incident response. His background includes senior roles at Forrester and Gartner, IT leadership in aerospace and defense, and running his own consulting firm. He also brings a scientific edge: Daniel co-founded a neuroscience research lab on Alzheimer’s and published multiple peer-reviewed papers.
