About Daniel Scharch

When you’re presented with a white belt in jiu-jitsu, you’re told that if you put enough blood, sweat, and tears on the mat, your belt will turn black. What they don’t tell you becomes clear - you'll need other people to help you get there. There are no forms to perform or perfect, you can only test yourself by grappling with another. My goal has always been to help people by learning from them, no matter the arena. And to always be improving, I work to extract value from every interaction. I earned my white belt in the Customer Experience as a Truck Team Member for 1-800-GOT-JUNK. Combining customer service, up-front sales, and a bit of powerlifting, junk removal taught me how to communicate better with people and deliver more than they expected every single day. Seeing an opportunity for treasure in the trash, I proposed a more efficient system for reducing landfill waste and was promoted as the Recycling Coordinator for the New Jersey franchise of 1-800-GOT-JUNK. Making the switch from a physical challenge to a more digital role, I started at Squarespace as a Customer Operations Advisor, helping customers build extraordinary websites through email and live chat support. As the company grew from a team of 100 employees to 300, and one office to three internationally (NY, Dublin, and Portland), I adapted, writing and editing technical guides and videos, strengthening the expansion of the Live Chat Team, and managing the development of a team of ten Advisors. I was also the Team Lead for Quality Control in New York and the Specialty Team Lead for assisting thousands of customers on the legacy platform, Squarespace 5. What else? Because it is often about the experience, I like to be active outside of work too. I’m a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu artist and my white belt is now blue. I've spent a month before on the road, driving across America, connecting with friends and family. I devour books and podcasts, and I blog regularly about the ideas that thrill me.
