About Daniel Schneider

I’m an environmental scientist, project manager, and facilitator with 19 years of consulting experience in Canada, the USA, and Australia. I’ve built my career helping owner teams plan and deliver innovative projects—first as a consultant and since 2020 as the founder of Horizon Environmental Inc, working directly with owners. I’ve led projects across all stages of development—from concept through to execution —on both owner and consultant teams. I’m most proud of leading 15+ complex mine water and closure projects—mainly legacy metal mine sites ranging from $2M to $10M—through to execution. One project earned the 2020 BC Technical Research Committee on Reclamation Metal Mining Reclamation Award. I integrate decision science, project management, and facilitation skills to help teams plan projects with high uncertainty, hidden complexity, or when creativity is required to shape the right project scope. My implementation experience enables me to support planning and execution. I’m a certified Practitioner with the Society of Decision Professionals, the leading global organization for applied decision science. I work hands-on with teams to define clear scopes of work, implementation plans, and roadmaps that align with organizational goals. I help project directors engage senior decision-makers with timely, well-structured dialogue. My approach is grounded in safety, integrity, and respect for people, communities, and ecosystems. I bring value to diverse technical teams by operating across both project level strategy development and hands-on delivery roles. Team Interface Management – I help owners liaise with consultants to ensure clear scope, integrated planning, and collaborative delivery. I support productive engagement among Owners, Regulators, Indigenous Rights-holders, the Public, and Technical Teams to deliver high-impact results. Clear, Compelling Communication—I translate technical complexity into actionable, audience-specific narratives. Whether it’s a project charter, funding request, presentation, or an RFP, I help teams tell the right story. A Trusted Network— When helpful, I draw on a senior-level associate SME network for project and portfolio optimization probabilistic modeling, enterprise risk management, and change management.
