Background
About Daniel Schulte
I am a Ph.D. candidate in Comparative Politics and International Relations at Brown University. My research interests include policy, ethnicity, religious parties, democratization, and nationalism. My dissertation explores the causes of changes in morality policy in Turkey, Russia, and Poland, with analysis focusing on religious education, women’s rights, and LGBTQI+ rights. My co-authored book chapters appear in Faith-based Organizations and Public Welfare (Palgrave 2020) and Knowledge Resistance in High-Choice Media Environments (Routledge 2022, accepted for publication). I am a fellow in the education working group at Stanford US Russia Forum which fosters mutual understanding between the two countries. After defending my dissertation, I aim to prepare my book project manuscript for publication, conduct research on comparative politics, and teach political science courses to undergraduates. At Brown, I have honed my teaching skills by serving as Teaching Assistant in four undergrad political science courses. In May 2021, I received the P. Terrence Hoppman award for excellence in teaching for a course on Chinese foreign policy.
