About Daniel Shanks

My career began as an associate technical professional in the Subsurface Safety Valve design team in June 2007. My hobbies in mechanics and heavy equipment helped me quickly understand the mechanical design side of down hole tools. Training in assembly and testing added to my skillset in troubleshooting and understanding of test setups. By 2012, I was a senior technical professional on my way to Singapore to help establish a subsurface products engineering team. While an Expat in Singapore I mentored and trained many young engineers in design, manufacturing support, and design analysis. By 2014, I was a technical professional leader of the subsurface products sustaining group in Singapore. In 2015, I returned home to Texas where I took over as technical professional leader for the subsurface products sustaining group. In 2019, the most senior engineer in my team retired and I moved into his role as technical advisor. I am quick at understanding design analysis, load paths, and stresses. I have had years of experience working with API 14A and 14L regulated products, including testing and troubleshooting. I have been described as down to earth, extremely serious, opinionated, and strong-willed.
