About Daniel Share-Strom

Creating stories that reflect real, authentic Autistic experiences is what drives me. As an Autistic person, I know how hard it can be to see yourself reflected in the world, so I’m passionate about creating media that does just that. I’m proud to have worked with Mattel to create Bruno the Brake Car, the first Autistic character in the Thomas & Friends franchise, and to have written content featuring him for the show. I also wrote Do You Want to Play? Making Friends with an Autistic Kid, a children’s book that explores friendship dynamics in a way that feels true to the Autistic experience. My path to creating these stories was shaped by my desire to help others find their own self-acceptance. After navigating my own journey, I became a Registered Social Worker to help others do the same. I work primarily with Autistic clients, using a strengths-based approach that empowers them to live fulfilling, authentic lives, as opposed to the pathologized medical model, which often tries to force individuals to change. I also enjoy speaking and sharing my experiences through motivational talks and workshops. I’ve had the privilege of speaking at events like the Geneva Centre for Autism’s National Symposium and the CDC’s Autism Awareness Month event, where I aim to highlight the value of neurodiversity and inclusion- Professional Highlights Registered Social Worker • Registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers • Honours Degree in Social Work from Lakehead University Television Writer • Created Bruno the Brake Car, the first Autistic character in Mattel's Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go! • Wrote content featuring Bruno, including TV episodes, a film, and assorted web content • Consulted on other writers' scripts featuring Bruno to ensure authenticity and positive messaging • Bruno was nominated for Italy's Diversity Media Award in 2024 for his groundbreaking representation Author • Author of Do You Want to Play?
