About Daniel Sherlock-Burke

I’m an experienced energy storage professional with deep knowledge for almost all aspects of energy storage projects, from inception to end of life. I support the delivery, operations and acquisitions of energy storage projects around the world from an owner’s perspective. I have expertise in battery safety, cell management, O&M and commercial optimisation, as well as Opex management and project insurance.I am responsible for operations of Gore Street’s global fleet of BESS projects and have leading experience in GB, Ireland, Germany and Texas. I’m passionate about thought leadership and leading by example: some examples of this are my roles as chair of both the H&S Governance Group for energy storage (supported by DESNZ and BSI) and the ESN’s Safety, Sustainability and Supply Chain working group.I began my career at Arenko, where I was exposed to asset management of multiple battery chemistries, including lead-acid and lithium-titanate, as well as li-ion NMC. I was responsible for one of the first batteries providing utility-scale frequency response in the country, and later acted as owner’s engineer and asset manager for the first battery ever despatched through the UK’s Balancing Mechanism; which also involved solving the challenges of BEGA registration for batteries directly alongside NGESO.I now run a team to manage the operations of a large portfolio of batteries around the world. Additionally, I support the overall technical requirements and design considerations for Gore Street’s projects and empower their commercial team to optimise from a whole-project perspective. In my time at Gore Street I’ve onboarded projects around the world, through EPC/O&M transition activities as well as operational acquisitions, the latter of which involves my direct technical due diligence support.
