Background
About Daniel Slogoski
Passionate about manufacturing and technology. Interests include automation, nuclear, corrosion, chemical processing, robotics, welding, design, and project management. Began an interest in industrial manufacturing when I was young - consistently tinkering and watching the show "How It's Made”. In 2013, I took welding night classes at SIAST Regina while attending high school. The following year, I completed the welding certificate program at SIAST. I worked as a welder/heavy duty mechanic in railcar repair with GE Rail/PROCOR for two years before deciding to make a career change. Went back to SIAST (now Saskatchewan Polytechnic) in 2017 to upgrade my high school classes in order to attend university. I excelled at math and science and enrolled in engineering at the University of Regina in 2018. I specialized in industrial systems engineering in my second year of university and got involved with clubs like UR Robotics and UR Makers. My top classes include automation and control, communication and design, statistical quality control, health and safety, machine design, mechatronics, simulation of industrial systems, and engineering graphics. My fourth year capstone project consisted of developing an anti-ooze nozzle for a pellet-based 3D printer. Did an internship with Orano Canada Inc. in McClean Lake in Northern Saskatchewan, a uranium mill, as a Mill Engineer - Intern. My duties included supporting capital and MOC projects, using SAP for information sharing, creating SOWs/CWPs, designing technical sketches/drawings on CAD, making budget estimations and RFQs, submitting AFEs, office administration, and taking on smaller projects. I worked on and supported various projects, including a propane vaporizer ESD, an arsenic flotation pilot plant, a sulfur pit ventilation remediation, an argon storage tank, various tank vessel repairs, and various smaller projects. Aside from my academic/career life, I am passionate about music production, photography, oil painting, tinkering, racquet sports, exercising, reading, traveling, and cooking. I am currently training for the Echo Lake Triathlon in Saskatchewan - July, 2025. I believe that engineering is an inherently creative discipline; especially in the design phase. As with any creative process, it involves working within constraints and rules. The creativity comes from achieving effective results from diverse inputs and outputs. This can be challenging but ultimately rewarding to see the final result - which I think is the intrinsic beauty of this discipline.
