Background
About Daniel Stadem
In case you don’t feel like reading a full summary, my one-sentence summary would look like this: I’m a former farm-kid with a strong work ethic, quick-learning capability, positive attitude, and a penchant for relationship and team building. There’s always a bit of awkwardness involved with writing or talking about yourself. I find this to be irritatingly true whenever someone says “tell me about yourself” or “what are your best strengths”. But this is summary of me so here we go: I took a Strengths finder test a while back and uncovered the following top five strengths: 1. Positivity 2. Harmony 3. Relator 4. Responsibility 5. Consistency I saw my results and, in all honesty, I was a little disappointed. I’ve always admired people who have strong business-related strengths; achiever, strategic, critical-thinking, etc. I was hoping I’d be similar. A short while after the test I was reading a book and I came across the following summarized concept: Maximize Your Strengths. It dawned on me that I shouldn’t be focusing on what I’m not great at, but instead focus on the things I’m good at and get better at them. In a company, one person doesn’t run the entire thing and expect it to be very successful. It takes a collaborative effort from everyone in the company to make it successful. I try to maximize my strengths every day - especially in my current role. It involves telling people all the things they’re doing wrong and when to fix them – not a very well-liked position. It’s easy to tell someone what they’re doing wrong. It’s more difficult to show them they’re doing something wrong, why it’s wrong and how to fix it, all while maintaining a positive and encouraging attitude. As a “people-person”, I find this to be both enjoyable and rewarding. Growth is paramount -"When you stop growing you start dying". I'm always looking for opportunities to grow, both professionally and personally.
