With over 35 years of experience in the civil and structural engineering sector, I’ve dedicated my career to blending technical expertise with strategic leadership. As a Chartered Structural Engineer (MIStructE) and CEO of JMS Legacy, I lead a £5m+ portfolio of companies that deliver innovative solutions across a diverse range of projects—from theatres and heritage restorations to multi-storey developments and bespoke engineering challenges. Throughout my career, I’ve been driven by the belief that small, continuous improvements lead to big results. Whether integrating cutting-edge software to streamline workflows, fostering collaboration within high-performing teams, or identifying emerging market trends, I’ve always sought to stay ahead of the curve. This approach has enabled JMS Group and its subsidiaries—including MJ Consulting, GC Robertson, and Beam-Designs—to thrive in competitive markets while delivering exceptional value to clients. In 2024, I founded The Structural Engineering Alliance Group (SEAG), a collaborative platform uniting independent firms to share expertise, resources, and opportunities. This initiative reflects my commitment to innovation, partnership, and raising the bar across the engineering industry. What motivates me most is the intersection of engineering precision and business strategy—finding ways to improve processes, enhance outcomes, and mentor the next generation of professionals. My ultimate goal is to leave a lasting legacy, not just through the structures we design, but through the people and partnerships that make it all possible.
