Dan Stephens retired in January 2022 as a principal and Vice President in charge of H. T. Harvey & Associates' Restoration Ecology group, which includes both restoration ecologists and landscape architects. Dan directed a wide variety of restoration projects, primarily in California, in a multitude of habitats and for a wide variety of public and private clients. He continues to provide consulting services on an oncall basis. Dan specialized in urban ecology; riparian, wetland, and woodland restoration; and restoration of habitat for special-status wildlife species. Dan is well-versed in all phases of habitat restoration design and implementation, from conceptual design through landscape plans and specifications, as well as construction supervision and long-term monitoring of sites. With extensive international experience in addition to his work in the western United States, Dan has expertise in all phases of public and private sector natural resource project management, including regulatory agency permitting, habitat impact assessment, CEQA/NEPA compliance, and permit compliance monitoring.
